The Future for the Homeless
Being in the twenty-first century, homelessness has started to become a major issue. Most people don’t know, but currently there is a homeless village in the works in Little Rock, Arkansas. Arkansas does not have a high population of homeless people, but as the world is changing as well as the business industry and inflation rates; the number of homeless people is rising.
That being said, the village that is currently in the works is being built in between a local bar and a retirement home. Considering that most homeless people are recovering alcoholics; I believe that this is not the best idea. Why locate a homeless village beside a bar where homeless people would have access to blow their newfound money on something that could become a bad habit or reignite a former bad habit.
On the other side of things, there will also be housing available for homeless families as well as homeless individuals. Having children living next to a bar would make me uncomfortable if I was to be a parent of children there. Would you want your children seeing drunk people and thinking its okay? Would you feel comfortable in your home with your children knowing there are drunk strangers next door?

I understand your concerns about the unfortunate location, but I am glad that there is some effort going into helping people. Hopefully, this housing complex can bring a positive change to the lives of homeless people.
ReplyDeleteI definitely understand what you are saying about the location, I wish they could pick a better spot. But, like Emma said in her comment I am glad they are making the effort to helping people in need.
